8 days/7 nights
July 20-July 27, 2023
We drive along the beautiful west coast of Baja California to our lunch stop in Ensenada. There you and your amigos will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious authentic local tacos. We drive south through Baja mountains and desert terrain to our first night’s stop in San Pedro Mártir National Park.
We love the San Pedro Mártir National Park and consider it one of the best national parks in Baja Mexico. The drive up to the park offers amazing scenic views from the Baja mountains. We just might spot a Condor flying overhead with a 9-foot wingspan! There is an amazing 6-mile hike thru aspen trees to a special lookout where the Gulf of California can be viewed from 9,000 feet! Another hike is very close to camp to a fire tower lookout that has an unbelievable 360-degree view of the park.
Due to the clean air and very little light pollution, San Pedro Mártir National Park provides ideal atmospheric conditions for astronomy. This location is one of the darkest locations on earth so the star gazing and night time photography options are absolutely amazing.
We will be camping at 8,000 feet with clean pit toilets nearby. This is a great scenic location for all ages of overlanders.
For our first Baja beach location, we will have two options. Camping on a cliff overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean or if you would like a bed, you have the option to stay in an awesome surf hostel. Shared dorm style rooms or private rooms with banos/restrooms, showers and kitchen available at hostel. Daily activity options in the area are fishing, surfing, beach combing or relax and enjoy the ocean waves and spectacular views. You and your friends will enjoy our Baja off-road exploring route along the Pacific coast to get tacos and a cold beverage. Back at camp, we will enjoy a beautiful Baja sunset and have a campfire on a bluff overlooking the ocean.
On Day 6 of our Baja overlanding adventure, we drive north on pavement then have the option to drive off-road on some of the Baja 500 race course if participants are interested. Our final destination is a Baja overlanders’ dream with epic Baja camping overlooking the Pacific Ocean with exceptional views. Wildlife can be viewed from our camp area. Activity options here are fishing from shore, an amazing coastal hike, explore a secret private beach or off-road exploring in the area. An optional morning fishing trip in a panga can be arranged ahead of time. This destination option gets us closer to the border for the final day of driving north.
