This 1000-mile northern Baja trip starts in San Diego, CA near the US/Mexico border and returns north at the Calexico/Mexicali border crossing.
Join us Thanksgiving week on this Baja off-road, beach and desert overlanding adventure through scenic diverse landscapes. You will visit Ensenada plus remote villages along the Pacific Ocean. Then we head south down the Baja peninsula as we travel through Catavina, Bahia de Los Angeles, Bahia de San Luis Gonzaga and San Felipe on the Sea of Cortez side. Camping during this Baja trip is mostly on remote beaches with a few places with showers/banos.
Thanksgiving in Baja!
Day 1
We stop for tacos in Ensenada, tour the local fish market, and experience this cool coastal port town. Then head south to our campo. Optional wine tasking opportunity at the oldest winery in Mexico. Camp two nights at one of our favorite spots in northern Baja on private property overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
Day 2
Enjoy a scenic coastal hike, private playa/beach or you can fish from the rocks or take a panga out. Camping overlooking the Pacific Ocean and banos/ showers at this location. Can be windy at this location – be prepared.
Day 3
Today you will have the opportunity to drive on the SCORE and NORRA off-road race course. It’s an epic drive south along the coast. Final destination is a great surf spot along Pacific Ocean. Camping overlooking the Pacific Ocean with banos & showers at this location.
Day 4
Continuing south, we off road along the Pacific coast to see a couple secret little places. Then pavement driving on hwy 1 to Catavina where we will enjoy camping alongside the boulders and cardon cactus. Unlimited photo ops. Enjoy the serene calmness in this desert landscape.
Day 5
Easy drive from Catavina to Bahia de Los Angeles. Can’t wait to get our fish tacos for Thanksgiving day! Primitive playa/beach camping.
Day 6
Bahia de Los Angeles - Explore, relax at camp, fish, kayak or check out local museum. Possible option side day trip. Primitive playa/beach camping.
Day 7
Drive north to Bahia de San Luis Gonzaga. Primitive playa/beach camping. Possibly pit or flush toilets.
Day 8
Drive north to San Felipe. Rustic Baja camping spot with shade. Short walk to playa walks and flush toilets/showers on site.
Day 9
Enjoy epic sunrise over the Gulf of Califorinia. Tacos or last-minute souvenir shopping in San Felipe. Gas up, then we head north for our Monday border crossing day to avoid long weekend holiday border lines.
