TRIP DATE: July 27-August 3, 2022
Trip starts in San Ysidro, CA near US/Mexico border and returns north at Otay Mesa or Tecate border crossing.
Join us as we first explore San Pedro Mártir National Park then head west to checkout nearby beaches. The drive up to the park offers amazing views. Pick your favorite activities such as hiking, mountain biking, star gazing, and campfire chat. Possible observatory tour or museum when open. Primitive camping in national park at 8,000 feet with clean pit toilets nearby. We just might spot a Condor flying overhead with a 9 foot wingspan! There is an amazing 6 mile hike thru aspen trees to a special lookout where the Gulf of California can be viewed. Another hike is very close to camp to a fire lookout that has an unbelivable 360 degree view of the park. San Pedro Mártir National Park is one of the darkest locations on earth so the star gazing and night time photography options are amazing.
Our beach location will have two options. Primitive camping on a cliff overlooking the beautiful Pacific Ocean or stay in a surf hostel in dorm or private rooms. Banos, showers and kitchen available at hostel. Daily activities options in the area are fishing, surfing, beach combing or relax and enjoy the ocean waves and view. Off-road exploring options up and down the Pacific coast. Optional hot springs soak or wine tasting on the drive north before crossing the border at Otay Mesa. Best weather times for this trip are June thru September.
