Puerto Santo Tomas

The journey is the fun part on Baja adventures, right?

Day 1
Driver meeting, radio check, buy pesos and hit the road south. We will stop near Ensenada for yummy tacos and maybe the fish market if time. After driving on a scenic 20 mile dirt road we will come to our Pacific Ocean location on private property at Puerto Santo Tomas. We have been traveling to this location for years and have a great working relationship with the owner. Enjoy safe off-grid camping overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Banos and shower are short walk from camping area.  This is a very rustic authentic location – no 5 star mint on pillow deal here and that’s what makes it so awesome. Optional cabin or casa with kitchens could be rented (paid in advance) for your group. Ask us for options. Campfires ok at this location.

Day 2-4
Daily activity options are beautiful coastal hikes, kayaking, fishing from shore or hire local panga captain.  Boat launch ramp on property. Bring your own fishing gear, kayak or mountain bike. One day we will go to a super-secret private beach for beach combing and fun in the sun. Great place to escape the heat of the day. Off-road exploring options up and down the Pacific coast. Hard core overlanders may want to join us on the Baja 500 course and do a loop to get a cold drink then return to camp – always a blast!

Day 5
Optional hot springs soak on the drive north before crossing the border at Otay Mesa. Or shoping in Ensenada or lots of other options – you choice.

Best weather times for this trip are late May thru November when the weather is really hot inland. It’s nice and cool here on the Pacific side. It will be windy off and on at this location so plan accordingly. Suggested gear list will be provided.  Only friendly no drama dogs welcome on this trip. Note there will be local camp dogs everywhere.

Passengers cars with a good driver can make it ok to our camping location. High clearance trucks or SUV’s need for the optional off-road day if the group chooses to do that.
